Shanghai’s city districts are divided into which side of the Huangpu River they are located on: the western side (Puxi) or the eastern side (Pudong). The city district located directly on the left bank is called Huangpu. The Bund (a 1.6-mile river promenade), People’s Square, the old city with the famous Yuyuan Garden, and the new Power Station of Art museum are spread out through the district.
