National September 11 Memorial and Museum
World Trade Center
Designed by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker, the Memorial honors the nearly 3,000 victims of the terrorist attacks of both 1993 and 2001 by creating a meditative space of nearly 400 trees in clustered formation broken up by two large recessed pools. Set within the footprints of the Twin Towers, the 8-acre Memorial Plaza serves to remember the lives lost by inscribing their names alongside the largest manmade waterfalls in the country.
